THE GOVERNMENT RECOGNIZES CBE's CONTRIBUTION TO THE NATION FOR 60 YEARS DR. HASHIL ABDALLAH
The Government has acknowledged the significant contributions of the College of Business Education (CBE) in advancing the country's business sector and economic growth, particularly through providing training and conducting research to address various societal challenges.
Speaking earlier today, July 3, 2024, at the launch of the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of CBE held at the main campus in Dar es Salaam, The Secretary- General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dr. Hashil T. Abdallah, stated that many CBE graduates have been instrumental in driving economic growth in the country.
"The contribution of CBE in Tanzania is substantial. The education provided here has helped to strengthen our country's economy. Graduates from this institution have been employed and contributed to the growth of industries and trade, which are crucial sectors for our economic development," said Dr. Abdallah.
Additionally, Dr. Abdallah assured the Chairwoman of the Board of the College of Business Education, Prof. Wineaster Anderson, and the College’s leadership that his ministry would continue to provide support to ensure the college meets its goals efficiently and effectively.
For her part, Prof. Anderson expressed gratitude to the government for trusting her with the position of Board Chairwoman for three years, noting that during this period, the college has progressed well and operates according to established procedures.
"Honorable Guest of Honor, on behalf of the CBE Board, we thank you and your Ministry for trusting the Board over the past three years. The college is currently doing well. Students and staff maintain work and academic discipline, and leaders uphold the laws, regulations, and guidelines of the country and institution. The Board has also continued to function effectively," said Prof. Anderson.
Earlier, the Rector of the College of Business Education (CBE) Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, narrated the history and achievements of CBE since its establishment in 1965 by the late Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere. She said CBE prides itself on having four campuses in the country and providing quality education to over 19,000 students.
She said CBE has expanded its programs from one (1) at its inception to more than 22 in 2024, including Business, Accounting, Marketing, Procurement and Supply, ICT, among others. Prof. Tandi also introduced CBE's 50-year vision, "CBE Vision 2074," aimed at sustainable development through new technology and in-depth research.
