DIRECTORATE OF STUDENT SERVICES HOSTS SEMINAR ON COMMUNICABLE DISEASES



The Directorate of Student Services, under the leadership of the Head of Counseling and Health Services, Ms. Farida Shemweta, successfully conducted an informative seminar focused on communicable diseases. This vital event took place on June 7, 2024, and saw an enthusiastic participation from students of the College of Business Education (CBE) at Dar es Salaam Campus.

The seminar was led by Ms. Rehema Mzungu, a renowned expert in coordinating health in schools. She served as the facilitator and keynote speaker. Ms. Mzungu provided an in-depth exploration of various communicable diseases, their transmission, prevention, and the critical importance of early detection and treatment. Her presentation included current statistics, recent outbreaks, and effective strategies to mitigate the spread of these diseases within communities. She also explained on the sexual harassment and urged students not to be afraid to visit the health centers as soon as they have been sexually harassed so as to prevent the spread of these disease in their bodies.

 

Students engaged actively with Ms. Mzungu, posing thoughtful questions and participating in discussions that underscored their concern and curiosity about public health issues. The interactive session helped demystify many aspects of communicable diseases and equipped attendees with practical knowledge to protect themselves and others.

Ms. Farida Shemweta emphasized the significance of such seminars in enhancing the overall well-being of the student body. She highlighted the Directorate's commitment to fostering a healthy campus environment through continuous education and awareness programs.
