EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS SEMINAR EMPOWERS DIPLOMA II STUDENTS

On 25th May 2024, the Directorate of Student Services organised a valuable seminar focused on equipping Diploma II students with essential employability skills. As these students are in their final year of the diploma program, the seminar aimed to prepare them for the transition ahead - whether joining the labour market after graduation or continuing to a bachelor's degree.

Recognizing the importance of ensuring students are well-equipped to thrive in the workplace, the College has a long-standing tradition of hosting these employability seminars for their final-year students. The seminar was expertly facilitated by Prof. Emmanuel Munishi, the Deputy Rector responsible for Planning, Finance, and Administration. The following subject matters were covered:

• General job-searching strategies

• Crafting effective job application letters

• Developing and updating compelling Curriculum Vitae (CVs)

• Key considerations in preparing for job interviews

• Appropriate and inappropriate behaviours during job interviews

• Responding to common interview questions • Salary negotiation techniques

• Essential soft skills and 21st-century skills for the workplace

This holistic approach ensured that Diploma II students gained a well-rounded understanding of the skills and knowledge required to navigate the job market successfully upon graduation.

By offering such valuable resources, the College of Business Education continues to demonstrate its steadfast commitment to the professional development and future success of its students.
