CONVOCATION - 28th November 2025

On November 28, 2025, the College of Business Education (CBE) Mbeya Campus came alive as staff, students, graduates, invited guests, and stakeholders gathered for the Academic Convocation, an important event leading up to the 2025 graduation ceremony.

Earlier in the day, the Chairperson of the Governing Board, Prof. Zacharia Mganilwa, met with staff at the campus to offer guidance and encouragement. He reminded them of the importance of creativity in service delivery, teamwork, integrity, and adherence to government policies and procedures.

During the same session, the Rector, Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, encouraged staff to take responsibility in their roles by embracing Monitoring and Evaluation systems to strengthen performance and support the college’s mission.

As the convocation officially began, attendees were welcomed by the Director of Mbeya Campus, Dr. Benny Mwenda, who expressed gratitude to the leadership, guests, and stakeholders present. He highlighted the strong partnership between the campus and the business community in Mbeya, noting that many stakeholders were also proud CBE alumni returning to support the event.

Shortly after, the Deputy Rector for Academic, Research and Consultancy, Prof. Robert Mashenene, invited the Rector to address the assembly. Upon taking the stage, Prof. Lwoga offered warm remarks, praising the commitment of students and staff and encouraging graduates to balance academic knowledge with innovation and ethical conduct as they prepare for life beyond the college. She then welcomed the Governing Board Chairperson to proceed with the program.

Prof. Mganilwa addressed the audience once again, this time focusing on the graduates and students present. He urged them to work hard, embrace technological changes, stay creative, and uphold integrity in all endeavors. He then introduced the Guest of Honour, Mr. Khalidi Rajab Omary, the NBC Mbeya Branch Manager, who was warmly received by participants.

In his speech, Mr. Omary encouraged students—especially those about to graduate—to apply the knowledge and skills acquired at CBE effectively as they transition into the professional world. He stressed the importance of self-reliance, economic empowerment, and continuous learning, reminding them that education is their strongest tool as they begin their journey beyond campus.

A special moment followed when Prof. Mganilwa presented Mr. Omary with an award in recognition of his support to the Academic Convocation and his efforts in strengthening the relationship between CBE and key business stakeholders in the region.

Outstanding graduates from various academic programs, along with several CBE partners, were also honored during the ceremony. They received certificates and gifts from the Guest of Honour as recognition for their achievements and contributions.

Throughout the day, participants enjoyed moments of reflection and entertainment. The Academic Convocation included a vibrant academic forum attended by students, graduates, lecturers, campus leaders, representatives from the student government, and visiting secondary school students. Talented CBE students performed various artistic presentations, adding joy and excitement to the event and showcasing the rich creativity within the campus community.


The convocation not only celebrated academic accomplishment but also strengthened the bond between CBE and its stakeholders, offering guidance, inspiration, and recognition as the campus prepares for its 2025 graduation ceremony.

Guest of Honor - Dr. Hashil Abdallah Praises CBE and Emphasizes the Development of Entrepreneurship

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dr. Hashil Abdallah, who was the guest of honor at the 60th CBE Graduation Ceremony and the 12th Graduation of the Mbeya Campus, praised the College of Business Education (CBE) for being ranked eighth in quality among 47 higher learning institutions in the country.

Dr. Abdallah urged CBE to continue implementing strong programs that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development, so as to reach many Tanzanians and improve individual incomes as well as the national economy. He said these efforts are important for strengthening the economy and creating job opportunities for young people.

He also wished the graduates great success in the new stage of life they are beginning. He encouraged them to be good ambassadors of CBE and to show in practice the skills and knowledge they gained during their studies.

Chairperson of the Governing Board of CBE - CBE Encourages Graduates to Use Education for Development

The Chairperson of the Governing Board of the College of Business Education (CBE), Prof. Zacharia Mganilwa, speaking at the 60th CBE Graduation Ceremony and the 12th Graduation of the Mbeya Campus, urged graduates to use the education they have gained to change their lives and contribute to the development of the nation. He said their education has great power to open opportunities and help them start a new life on a strong foundation.

Prof. Mganilwa also said that CBE is in the process of opening a Northern Zone Campus in Kilimanjaro Region. This step will help the college reach more Tanzanians, reduce travel costs for students, and bring business education services closer to people in all regions of the country.

 

Rector - CBE Continues to Promote Entrepreneurship Clubs, Benefiting 1,500 Youth

The Rector of the College of Business Education (CBE), Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, said the college continues to support the national economy by preparing young people to become entrepreneurs through practical training. She made these remarks during the 60th CBE Graduation Ceremony and the 12th Graduation of the Mbeya Campus.

She explained that CBE has established Entrepreneurship Clubs in all four campuses and in 30 government secondary schools, involving more than 1,500 young people. In 10 schools in Mbeya, students have started vegetable gardens as part of learning entrepreneurship through hands-on activities.

The guest of honor was the Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Hon. Patrobasi Katambi, who was represented by Dr. Hashil Abdallah, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.
