COLLEGE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION (CBE) ENTERS INTO PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTS WITH UWC AND UCT UNIVERSITIES IN SOUTH AFRICA

The College of Business Education (CBE) has taken another significant step in strengthening international collaboration by signing academic partnership agreements with the University of the Western Cape (UWC) and the University of Cape Town (UCT), both located in Cape Town, South Africa.

On September 26, 2025, the CBE leadership team, led by the Rector, Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, accompanied by Prof. Robert Galan Mashenene, the Deputy Rector for Academic, Research, and Consultancy, held a meeting with Prof. Monwabisi Ralarala, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of the Western Cape (UWC), in South Africa.

Both parties unanimously agreed to collaborate in teaching, learning, and research. The partnership will also include student and staff exchange programs aimed at enhancing academic experiences, promoting cross-cultural understanding, and advancing technology.

This collaboration is expected to foster academic excellence, innovation, and impactful research outcomes that address global challenges. It aligns with CBE’s mission to expand international partnerships, build networks, and create opportunities for staff and students.

Among other areas of cooperation, research in technology and entrepreneurship will be given priority by both CBE and UCT to provide solutions to challenges facing entrepreneurs as well as to boost employment and national income in both countries.

Additionally, on September 25, 2025, the CBE leadership had the opportunity to hold discussions with the University of Cape Town (UCT), where they were welcomed by Prof. Suki Goodman, the Dean of the UCT Faculty of Commerce.

During the discussions, both parties agreed that CBE students will have the opportunity to study for one semester at UCT after completing their second semester each year in July. This arrangement will help students gain international experience, and exposure to diverse social, cultural, and technological environments, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in the job market both within and outside Tanzania.

CBE will also be able to send its academic staff to pursue PhD studies in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management, and Economics. These programs will be jointly supervised by experts from both CBE and UCT.

Given UCT’s excellence in technology and human resources, CBE has also expressed its intention to send lecturers for PhD training in the rapidly growing fields of Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence.

On behalf of CBE, Rector Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Goodman and the UCT leadership for their warm reception and productive discussions.

Prof. Lwoga emphasized that the international offices and partnership departments of both universities will oversee the preparation and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and its implementation.

This collaboration between CBE and UCT is expected to yield positive outcomes in improving the quality of higher education, promoting joint research, and enhancing global competitiveness among students and academic staff of both institutions.
