Opportunities for Exporting Agricultural Products to Global Markets

Cooperative Forum

He highlighted the many benefits of exporting, including:

  • Higher prices – e.g., 1.2 kg of bananas can fetch up to Tsh 7,952 in Cape Town!
  • Access to foreign currency
  • Reliable markets
  • Higher profits for farmers and entrepreneurs

Dr. Mramba urged members of cooperative societies to join forces, organize themselves, and actively seek international markets, emphasizing that it is achievable. He encouraged innovation and cautioned against relying solely on limited local markets, which often lack entrepreneurial appeal.

Global Market Strategy

He also stressed the importance of maintaining high-quality standards, as global markets demand compliance with international regulations.

In conclusion, Dr. Mramba noted that Tanzanian agricultural products such as avocados, coffee, and cocoa are in high demand globally — and now is the time to take full advantage of these global trade opportunities.
