CBE ACADEMIC TEAM VISITS WEIGHTS AND MEASURES AGENCY TO STRENGTHEN PRACTICAL TRAINING

A team of academics from the College of Business Education (CBE), Department of Legal and Industrial Metrology, led by the Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs, Research, and Consultancy, Prof. Robert Mashenene, made a short academic visit to the Weights and Measures Agency (WMA) offices located in Misugusugu, Pwani, Tanzania, on September 10, 2026. The purpose of the visit was to learn about the actual working environment and operations within the metrology sector, enabling CBE to continue strengthening practical training and learning environments that prepare students and graduates to meet labor market demands.

The visit emphasized the importance of stakeholder engagement, noting that a large percentage of WMA staff are graduates of the Metrology program offered by CBE. Therefore, the institution's experience and feedback are vital contributions to ensuring that the training provided aligns with the real needs of employers and the relevant sector.

Additionally, during the visit, the CBE team had the opportunity to receive feedback and advice from WMA stakeholders on how to further improve the curricula of the Metrology programs to keep pace with technological changes, labor market demands, and the expectations of the Legal Metrology sector in the country.
