Rector of the College of Business Education (CBE), Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, explained the establishment of the Conference on Strengthening Employment Opportunities and Sustainable Development for Tanzanians. The Guest of Honour was Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Hon. Dennis Londo (MP), during the climax of the conference held today, May 29, 2026.
Prof. Edda said that the establishment of the conference goes hand in hand with the vision of the Sixth Phase Government to strengthen entrepreneurship and innovation education in order to increase self-employment opportunities for young people.

Chairperson of the Board of Management of the College of Business Education (CBE), Eng. Prof. Zakaria Mganilwa, said that the college will continue to strengthen quality, accountability, and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure its programmes meet the nation's needs in the areas of business, entrepreneurship, management, finance, technology, and workplace skills.
He encouraged young people to use the Career Fair as a platform to discover themselves and seek self-employment opportunities, develop products and services, use technology, and collaborate with others instead of waiting only for formal employment.
He also called upon various stakeholders to sponsor the 9th International Academic Conference (9BEDC 2026), which will be held in Mwanza City on October 22–23, 2026, with the aim of presenting academic research findings from local and international experts.
On her part, Rector of CBE, Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, said that the Career Fair is part of the college’s efforts to connect classroom education with the real needs of the job market, business sector, and industries.
She said that through this platform, students have the opportunity to listen to presentations from experts on career development, the banking sector, entrepreneurship, business management, economic empowerment, technology, business registration, innovation, and employment opportunities.
It should be noted that this is an annual event where students get the opportunity to meet employers, heads of colleges, and leaders from both the public and private sectors so that they can gain ideas, skills, and practical experience about real-world working environments.

Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade - Hon. Dennis Londo
Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Hon. Dennis Londo, has urged students of the College of Business Education (CBE) to make good use of the training opportunities provided to them in order to build knowledge that will help them in their future lives.
Speaking at the Career Fair 2026, which carried the theme “Innovation and Skills for Youth: The Foundation for Business and Industrial Growth in Tanzania,” Londo said that today’s world does not need young people with certificates alone, but those who have practical knowledge, innovation, work discipline, and the ability to use technology to compete in the job and business markets.
He said that the Government, through the Ministry of Industry and Trade, continues to create a supportive environment that enables young people to actively participate in production, trade, entrepreneurship, and industrial development through various policies and economic empowerment programmes.
“We continue to emphasize the development of small, medium, and large industries, the use of locally produced goods, and empowering young people to participate in industrial value chains through entrepreneurship education, technology, capital, and markets,” he said.
In another development, he commended CBE for organizing Career Fair 2026, saying that the platform has become an important bridge connecting education, the job market, business, and industry by giving young people opportunities to learn from experts, showcase their innovations, access information on opportunities, and build professional networks.
The Deputy Minister said he was pleased with CBE’s achievements after it ranked 10th among higher education colleges in the country. He noted that research published in national and international journals has contributed significantly to this achievement.
He also praised the college for continuing to improve its educational infrastructure, including the construction of the Metrology Building, which has reached 99% completion in its first phase, as well as the ongoing development of its various campuses.
