CBE Directorate of Students’ Services Participates in TACOGA 1984 Annual General Meeting

The College of Business Education (CBE), through the Directorate of Students’ Services (DSS), actively participated in the Tanzania Counselling and Guidance Association (TACOGA 1984) Annual General Meeting, held from 24^th to 26^th September 2025 at the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA).

Five CBE staff took part in the meeting—three from Dar es Salaam Campus, one from Dodoma Campus, and one from Mwanza Campus, as detailed in Table 1. Their participation demonstrated the College’s continued commitment to advancing student welfare and counselling services through professional collaboration and knowledge exchange.

TACOGA 1984 is a national professional association that brings together Deans of Students, Directors of Students’ Services, Wardens, Counsellors, and other officers responsible for guidance and counselling in Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) across Tanzania. The association serves as a platform for sharing experiences, promoting ethical practices, and strengthening the role of student support services in tertiary education.

The meeting was officially closed by Prof. D. Mushi, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, who commended TACOGA 1984 for its significant contribution in fostering unity, promoting ethical values, enhancing knowledge sharing, and advancing behaviour change education among students.

In his closing remarks, Prof. Mushi expressed concern over the low level of institutional participation, noting that only 48 higher learning institutions were represented. He urged more institutions to engage actively in future meetings, reaffirming that TACOGA 1984 remains a key partner in strengthening students’ skills, values, mental health support, and positive moral development.
