Awareness Seminar on the importance of career Guidance and Counseling

The Directorate of Students’ Services at Dar es Salaam Campus hosted an awareness seminar on the importance of career counselling and guidance services. The seminar was held on 27th May 2025 and facilitated by Dr. Faustine China, Principal Social Welfare Officer. The session aimed to help students reflect on their goals, clarify career paths, and overcome academic and professional challenges through informed decisions. A total of 176 students attended.

Among others the key topics included:

  • The meaning of career and guidance – Understanding career as a journey shaped by goals and experiences, and guidance as support for making confident choices
  • Career counseling – Aligning self-awareness with career opportunities
  • Student challenges – Career confusion, academic stress, low confidence, poor time management, and limited information access
  • Benefits of career counseling – Boosting clarity, confidence, and decision-making

Many students felt more focused, empowered, and ready to take charge of their futures. The reflective environment sparked meaningful conversations, reminding participants that every career journey begins with self-understanding.
