Employability Skills Seminar for Finalist Students

Directorate of Students’ Services at Dar es Salaam Campus successfully organized an Employability Skills seminar titled “Career Planning and Development: From the Classroom to Your Dream Job.” The seminar was held on 25th June 2025 and was specifically designed for all third-year Bachelor students who are in their final year of study. As these students prepare to transition beyond college—either by entering the job market or pursuing further studies—the seminar aimed to equip them with the knowledge and tools necessary for a successful next step.

The session was facilitated by Professor Emmanuel Munishi, Deputy Rector – Planning, Finance, and Administration. He delivered an insightful and engaging presentation on the importance of career preparedness and professional growth. Professor Munishi emphasized that effective career planning should begin early and be approached with deliberate focus, as it lays the foundation for long-term success and personal fulfillment. A total of 236 students attended.

Throughout the session, participants explored the following key topics:

  • Importance of early and intentional career planning
  • Career planning as a continuous and dynamic process
  • Consequences of poor or neglected career planning, such as:
  • Practical strategies for effective career planning, Market research
  • Aligning personal values, interests, and competencies with potential career paths
  • Key 21st-century skills needed in today’s job market
  • Role of personality in shaping career decisions, encouraging students to reflect on how their traits influence career choices and job satisfaction
