During the review period, the Gender Desk Coordinator organized a seminar for the Gender Desk Members and the Students' Gender Club. The seminar took place on 1st June 2023 and was attended by eight Gender Desk members, 30 Students' Gender Club members, and three student organization leaders. The facilitators for the seminar were Dr. Lulu Mahai, the Director of the Institute of Gender Studies at the University of Dar es Salaam, and Dr. Hamis Mfaume, a Senior Lecturer from Dar es Salaam University College of Education.
Following the seminar, Dr. Lulu Mahai officially inaugurated the Students' Gender Club. In her inaugural speech, she emphasized the importance of consistency among club members and their role as advocates for gender-related issues within the college. She urged the members to actively engage in promoting gender equality and creating awareness about gender biases and stereotypes.
The launch of the Students' Gender Club marks a significant step towards fostering a more inclusive and equitable learning environment within the college. The club will serve as a platform for students to collaborate, discuss, and initiate activities aimed at addressing gender bias and promoting gender equality. Through their involvement in the club, students will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills and contribute to positive change in their academic community.
