Awareness Seminar on Stress Management at Dodoma Campus 

The Directorate of Students’ Services at Dodoma campus organized an awareness seminar on Stress Management for Academic Success, which was held on 24th December 2025. The seminar was facilitated by Dr. David Sylvester, a Psychiatrist from Mirembe National Mental Health Hospital.

The main objective of the seminar was to enhance students’ awareness, knowledge, and practical understanding of stress management in order to promote mental wellbeing and support academic success. The seminar was attended by 250 students and formed part of the orientation programme for new students.

The seminar covered the following key thematic areas:

  • Meaning and nature of stress as a physical, mental, and emotional response to challenging situations
  • Common signs and symptoms of stress among students
  • Effects of unmanaged stress on academic performance and overall well-being
  • Practical strategies for managing stress and maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle

Participants were provided with practical guidance on stress management techniques and were encouraged to adopt positive coping strategies to improve their academic performance and quality of life. Seminar contributed to improved awareness of stress management and equipped students with skills to enhance their academic performance and personal wellbeing.
