Social skills Training for Students Leaders : DSM Campus

In a bid to foster a culture of effective leadership and social proficiency, the Directorate of Student Services hosted a comprehensive training session at the Dar es Salaam campus on 17th January 2024. The training led by Mr. Marco Stephano, the Principal Social Welfare Officer, aimed to equip leaders of student organizations including Class Representatives (CRs) with essential social skills for navigating diverse situations and building positive relationships.

The training attracted a substantial turnout of students’ leaders and class representatives, all eager to enhance their social proficiency. Covering a spectrum of critical topics, the session included an introduction to social skills, an exploration of diverse social skills within the context of college life, and an in-depth discussion on the significance of adept social skills for college students.

Through engaging in interactive discussions, participants gained a profound understanding of the importance of social skills. Practical strategies were shared to enhance social proficiency, allowing attendees to not only grasp the theoretical aspects but also apply them in practical scenarios. The session also provided a platform for participants to share their personal experiences and challenges, receiving constructive feedback and guidance from both the facilitator and their peers.

As the training concluded, student leaders and class representatives emerged with fundamental social skills that extend beyond their college years. Armed with newfound knowledge, they are now better prepared to navigate diverse social situations, connect with individuals from various backgrounds, and cultivate positive relationships. These skills are anticipated to contribute to their personal growth, academic success, and professional advancement in the years to come. The training marked a significant step in empowering the leaders of tomorrow with the tools necessary for success in both their academic and personal lives.
