58th MWANZA CAMPUS GRADUATION

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Hon. Exaud Kigahe (MP), has urged graduates of the College of Business Education (CBE) to use social media to create employment opportunities instead of engaging in inappropriate activities on these platforms.

The call was made in his speech on behalf of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji (MP), during the 58th graduation ceremony at the Mwanza Campus held at the R. Meridien Park Hall on November 25, 2023.

Furthermore, Hon. Kigahe advised the graduates that the education they have received should serve as a catalyst for establishing businesses so that they can become self-employed and employ other Tanzanians. "Never become part of those who complain about unemployment; instead, become a solution to unemployment by utilizing the education you have received," said Kigahe.

Moreover, Hon. Kigahe acknowledged and promised to address the challenges presented in the graduation ceremony's speech.
"I am aware of challenges such as the shortage of dormitories, fences, and roads, which are largely due to financial constraints. I want to assure you that the government stands with you at all times and will endeavor to do everything possible," said Kigahe.

The Chairperson of the College of Business Education Governing Body, Prof. Wineaster Saria Anderson, in her welcoming speech to the guest of honor, mentioned that in 2023, the College produced 2,443 graduates from its four campuses in Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Mwanza, and Mbeya. She elaborated that among these graduates, 1,226 were from the Dar es Salaam campus, 792 from Dodoma, 261 from Mwanza, and 164 from Mbeya. Prof. Wineaster also highlighted the challenges facing the Mwanza Campus, such as the lack of fences and proper hostel facilities, as many students there reside outside the campus.

On his part, the Acting Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Industries, Trade, Agriculture, and Livestock, Dr. Merdad Kalemani (MP), expressed gratitude to the college's administration for inviting their committee to the graduation ceremony.
"It's our committee's first time participating in the college's graduation ceremony. I urge our graduates to effectively utilize the knowledge they've acquired for the benefit of the nation," said Kalemani.

The Rectorl of the College of Business Education, Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, mentioned the establishment of various programs at the institution, including Business Incubators, Apprenticeship Training, and a Business Clinic aimed at entrepreneurs and business practitioners."
