CBE COMMENDED BY THE PARLIAMENT COMMITTEE



"The Permanent Committee of the Parliament on Industries, Trade, Agriculture and Livestock Committee praises the College of Business Education (CBE).

The commendations were given by the Chairperson of the Committee Hon. Deodatus Mwanyika (MP), on November 23 at the College of Business Education (CBE) at Mwanza Campus.

Concluding the discussion on the implementation report, Hon. Mwanyika commended the College of Business Education (CBE) for significant achievements by expanding its scope to other regions, including campuses in Mwanza and Mbeya.


Additionally, Hon. Mwanyika stated that the purpose of the visit was to inspect the performance and implementation of Development projects undertaken by the Ministry of Industries and Trade, including the College of Business Education (CBE).

Furthermore, he mentioned that the committee's role is to ensure timely implementation of Development projects as directed in the budget, enabling the college to achieve its goals and increase the number of graduates capable of self-employment, thereby providing jobs after completing their studies at the institution, strategically positioned for business.


"All committee members have listened to the implementation report of the College, and we commend you for significantly increasing the number of students, from 288 to 1731 in the academic year 2023-2024. You truly deserve congratulations," said Mwanyika.

Providing government remarks, Deputy Minister of Industries and Trade, Hon. Exaud Kigahe, on behalf of the Minister of Industries and Trade, commended the Permanent Committee of Parliament for fulfilling their given responsibilities.

Hon. Kigahe assured the committee that all institutions under the Ministry of Industry and Trade would continue fulfilling their responsibilities, particularly in Development, to align with the objectives of the Sixth-phase Government, aiming to provide efficient education for all youth, thereby fostering the growth of the Business sector.

Additionally, he assured the committee that all challenges outlined by Members of Parliament, including the construction of the road leading to the Mwanza Campus, will be addressed by the Ministry in collaboration with TARURA to find a solution.

Initially presenting the performance report to the committee, the Head of the College of Business Education (CBE), Prof. Eda Tandi Lwoga, highlighted that the Mwanza Campus has made significant strides since its establishment in 2007-2008, starting with 288 students and 5 staff members. The student count has increased to 1731, and the staff count stands at 59.

Prof. Lwoga further elaborated that among the 59 staff members, 29 are academic professionals, and 30 are administrative staff. She also detailed the courses offered at the Mwanza Campus, including Accounting, Business Management, Marketing Management, Procurement and Supplies, Business Education, Financial Accounting, Communication Technology, Human Resource Management, and Digital Marketing."
