H.E JAKAYA KIKWETE LAUNCHES THE FOURTH BEDC

"Former President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, has stated that the Ministry of Industries and Trade, as well as Government Institutions, should start utilizing research findings from Higher Education Institutions such as the College of Business Education (CBE) to achieve positive results in their activities.

He made this statement today, November 22, 2023, while inaugurating the fourth Business and Economic Development Conference (BEDC2023) organized by the College of Business Education (CBE) in Dodoma, where various topics were presented.
Dr. Jakaya mentioned that this conference empowers Tanzanians, especially the youth, to be motivated to enhance innovation and engage in technological entrepreneurial activities, thus aligning with global economic changes.

He noted that despite the importance of these conferences, there has been limited dissemination and utilization of research findings by the Government, stakeholders, and the public.

"I urge Higher Education Institutions conducting research to recognize their responsibility to ensure that the research results reach the intended audience, especially ordinary citizens, in a clear and understandable language," said Former President Kikwete.

On her part, the Minister for Industry and Trade, Honorable Dr. Ashatu Kijajii, speaking at the conference, mentioned that the theme of the Fourth Academic Conference is "Business Environment and Investment for Economic Development."

She stated that this theme was chosen to support the efforts made by the Sixth-phase Government under the leadership of Honorable Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan in improving the business environment in the country.

"We hope that through this Conference, we will hear research findings that outline various achievements but also challenges that are hindering the Government's goals and using these research findings to further enhance improvements," Dr. Kijaji remarked.

Dr. Kijaji mentioned that the College, through its staff, conducts research and publishes research papers both domestically and internationally aimed at assisting society and the nation at large.

"With great honor, I promise that this College will continue to receive and act upon government directives while continuing to conduct various research aimed at enhancing business education in the country," Dr. Kijaji remarked.
