Empowerment Through Entrepreneurship: Dr. Hashil Abdallah Encourages Graduates to Forge Their Paths
In a compelling address at the 58th graduation ceremony of the College of Business Education (CBE), Dr. Hashil Abdallah, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, delivered a powerful message to the 1,226 graduates. Held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, the ceremony celebrated the achievement of students at various academic levels, including Certificate, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees.

Dr. Hashil urged the graduates to leverage the knowledge acquired during their time at CBE to chart their course in the business world. Emphasizing the significance of entrepreneurial education, he encouraged them to embrace innovation and contribute to economic growth by becoming self-employed and creating job opportunities for others.

"With the quality education you have received, you should go and create employment for others instead of being dependent on struggling to find employment. Go and become self-employed and employ others," Dr. Hashil urged the graduates, highlighting the college's commitment to equipping them with the skills needed for entrepreneurship.

He underscored the impact of globalization and stressed the importance of adapting to rapid changes in all aspects of life. Commending the college's leadership for its visionary approach, Dr. Hashil specifically praised the establishment of apprenticeship programs that provide students with hands-on experience in business management.

The Acting Rector of the College, Prof. Tandi Lwoga, echoed Dr. Hashil's sentiments, noting that the graduates had completed programs in disciplines such as Business Management, Marketing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Procurement and Supplies Management. Prof. Tandi highlighted the college's efforts to shift the focus from seeking employment to fostering entrepreneurship.

"Since 2022, we have introduced incubation programs which nurture our students with various business ideas and innovations. We collaborate with other institutions to develop these ideas. We have already started witnessing the results of this noble task where some students have started businesses while still in college," explained Prof. Tandi, showcasing the tangible outcomes of the college's dedication to empowering students to be self-employed and employers in their own right.
