CBE HEALTH WEEK CELEBRATION CONCLUDES ON WORLD AIDS DAY
The College of Business Education (CBE) concluded its Health Week celebration on 1st December 2023, coinciding with World AIDS Day. This collaborative event involved key healthcare stakeholders, including the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Dar es Salaam City Council, Aga Khan Hospital, National Blood Transfusion Services, and UTT AMIS.
Organized by the College Management in partnership with the Student Government (CBESO), the week-long celebration aimed to raise health awareness among CBE staff and students. Participants had access to various health services, including HIV Voluntary Testing and Counselling, breast and cervical cancer screening, contraceptive advice, and non-communicable disease testing. Additionally, both students and staff actively contributed by donating blood.
Dr. Zaituni Hamza, Chief Medical Officer of Dar es Salaam City Council, honoured the occasion as the guest of honour. In her address, she underscored the significance of maintaining good health and advocating for the avoidance of risky behaviours such as unprotected sex, abortion, and drug abuse. Dr. Hamza also encouraged students to prioritize their studies and strive for excellence.
Representing the Management, Mr. Marco Stephano, Assistant Dean of Students, emphasized the significance of the CBE Health Week initiative. He called for enhanced involvement of pertinent stakeholders in future CBE health weeks, stressing the value of collective effort in advancing wellness and creating a healthy academic environment. Furthermore, Mr. Stephano extended his gratitude to the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Dar es Salaam City Council and other collaborators for their contributions to the success of this year's Health Week.
To further support the health and well-being of students, the College received mosquito nets and condoms from the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Dar es Salaam City Council. These provisions aim to protect against malaria and other vector-borne diseases while promoting responsible sexual behaviour.
