BDS-KAIZEN Project to Strengthen Industrial Production

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Zanzibar, Mr. Ali Khamis Juma, urged entrepreneurs and students to effectively utilize the opportunities presented by training in producing quality goods and marketing techniques provided by BDS - KAIZEN.

He made these remarks on November 14, 2023, while inaugurating the Joint Meeting of the Executive Committee for the implementation of the Project to Strengthen Production Industries through Business Development Services (BDS) and Quality and Productivity Improvement (KAIZEN) Programs held at the College of Business Education (CBE) in Dar es Salaam.

He mentioned that the project, implemented in Mainland Tanzania and the Isles, aims to build the capacity of Tanzanians, especially entrepreneurs, in enhancing industrial production and marketing strategies.

Additionally, he stated that the project also aims to empower entrepreneurs to produce standardized goods capable of withstanding competition both domestically and internationally, thereby fostering trade and the overall national economy.

Tanzania is implementing this project's third phase through the KAIZEN Program under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) from 2023 to 2027, targeting the provision of business services in various sectors through Government Institutions, the Private Sector, and Educational Institutions.

The first phase of implementing this project was from 2013 to 2017, and the second phase was from 2017 to 2021, focusing on enhancing productivity and quality in industries and cost-effective production of goods in the country
