CBE's Role in Advancing Education and Research: Insights from Prof. Lwoga at BEDC 2024

The Rector of the College of Business Education (CBE), Prof. Edda Tandi Lwoga, provided an overview of the Fifth Business and Economic Development Conference (BEDC) 2024, which was officially launched today, November 22, 2024, by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa (MP), at the Treasury Square in Dodoma.

Prof. Lwoga explained that the origins of the conference date back to 2016, following the government's announcement of its relocation to Dodoma. Since then, the College has hosted four academic conferences, with this being the fifth.

"This conference aligns with the College's three core mandates: providing education, conducting research, and offering professional consultancy services. Regarding research and publications, we have successfully increased the research budget from TZS 46 million in 2018 to TZS 300 million in the current fiscal year, 2023/2024.

We take pride in conducting research funded by prominent organizations such as the European Union, the University of Eastern Finland, and others, reflecting our commitment to advancing academic excellence and enhancing the quality of education we provide to Tanzanian youth," Prof. Lwoga stated.

She also highlighted that, over the past five years, the College has successfully published 288 papers in national and international journals. This achievement is attributed to the dedication of the College's lecturers and researchers in advancing education and generating new knowledge.
