SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META ANALYSIS



The main objective of this workshop is to equip participants with necessary hands-on skills to conduct systematic review and meta-analysis. Participants will gain knowledge and skills on how to synthesize evidence and use it to inform policy and decision making processes.

TOPICS TO BE COVERED
  • Understand different resource guidelines for conducting systematic reviews.
  • Design an answerable review question using the “Participants Interventions Comparisons Outcomes” (PICO) framework and other types of frameworks.
  • Register a review with the protocol registration databases.
  • Develop an excellent search strategy.
  • Know how to screen articles based on the predefined eligibility criteria.
  • Prepare a quality data extraction form for a systematic review.
  • Critically assess the quality of included studies/ risk of bias.
  • Describe and interpret the results of meta-analyses.
  • Use an automation tool to facilitate the systematic review process.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Interested academic staff, researchers, information professionals, librarians, government ministry representatives, civil society representatives, postgraduate students from different institutions. 
 
DATE, FORMAT AND TIME
  • Date: 21st to 25th October 2024.
  • Format: The course will be taught completely online for five days, with a duration of two hours per day. There will be an interactive session held via zoom on every session, along with recorded material and practical exercises.
  • Time: Zoom session from 4pm to 6pm Eastern African time from Monday to Friday.
 
COURSE FEES
The course fee of TZS 690,000 (for Tanzanians) and equivalent of US$ 400.00 (for foreigners). Payments should be done in advance. The training fee shall be paid through the control number which will be made available to interested prospective participants.
